WARRENSBURG - Feb. 10 at 4:45 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene to help search for a lost 5-year-old boy who had vanished in his home at 4 Orton Drive.

After a search by patrol officers, the boy was eventually located hiding in a closet inside the home.

But during the search for the child, which included the inside of the house, patrol officers found a more substantial surprise: 68 marihuana plants growing in the basement, police said.

An investigation lead to the arrest of Joseph F. Weiler, 28, of 4 Orton Drive for Growing Cannabis and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both of the charges are misdemeanors.

Also arrested was Kenneth Weiler, 24, of the same address. He was arrested for seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for possessing Propoxyphene, a narcotic drug, for which he does not have a prescription, police said. Plus, Kenneth Weiler has arrested on a charge of Unlawful possession of Marihuana for having a small amount of marihuana.

Both subjects were released on appearance tickets which are returnable to the Warrensburg Town Court at a later date. The arrest was made by Sheriff's Patrol officers Gould, Phillips, Difiore, and Undersheriff Robert Swan.
