Outreach center sets open house as its mission is poised to expand

WARRENSBURG - An agency that serves families in need locally will be holding an open house next Sunday.

North Country Ministries' outreach center in Warrensburg will be hosting visitors from 11 a .m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday March 8.

The center is intended to provide clothing and counseling for families of modest income - with young children - in concert other services for the community.

The outreach center is located at 3933 Main St., across from the Warrensburg Post Office.

North Country Ministries is aiming to add another caseworker at the Warrensburg Outreach Center as well as a parenting support counselor. The organization is known for helping connect people with job and housing opportunities, as well as providing vital emergency aid and help in parenting and child-care issues.

The open house may in the future offer more services similar to its headquarters in Johnsburg, said Ministries representative Phyllis Meader of Lake George.

The center may include a Baby's Place which will offer furniture and baby clothing and other related items, she said. And later on, the center may be launching a play group for toddlers, she said.

The open house is intended to help people familiarize themselves with the outreach center and its mission, as well as providing an opportunity raise awareness about local needs and to encourage donations, Meader said.

"People are welcome to come to the center and take a look," she said.
