Responders free man pinned under truck

WARRENSBURG - Emergency responders helped rescue a local man mid-day Monday who was pinned under his truck, officials said.

Bob Duffy of Pratt St. was plowing his driveway when he exited his vehicle and slipped on an icy snowbank and disappeared under his truck, Warrensburg fireman Jim Hull said.

Hull, a local Fire Commissioner and Past Chief of the Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Co., was among those responding to the scene.

"Bob lost his footing, he slid under the truck and was pinned underneath," Hull said noting that Duffy was wedged in underneath a step rail on the truck's cab.

Hull said Duffy had yelled out for help, and it was lucky a neighbor across the street heard him, because he wasn't dressed with much protection for Monday's cold weather.

Sub-freezing temperatures prevailed Monday at the time of the incident.

Warrensburg Fire Co. First Assistant Chief Robert Cleveland said a quite a few agencies responded to the scene, including the Warrensburg Emergency Squad, the Bay Ridge Emergency Squad, the Warren County Sheriff's Dept. and state Police - in addition to local firefighters.

Emergency responders simply shoveled out the snowbank so they could free Duffy.
