RUTLAND - On Jan. 25, the Rutland City Fire Department was dispatched to a building owned by Dale Patterson located at 187 West St. in Rutland, after a report of smoke coming from a building. The site was the former location of a business operation called Extreme Trends.
On arrival, firefighters observed flames coming from the building. The fire crew aggressively extinguished the fire. Fire Chief Schlachter contacted the Vermont State Police and Division of Fire Safety to request an origin and cause investigation.
Fire investigators from the Vermont State Police and the Vermont Division of Fire Safety arrived at the scene. The investigation showed that the fire was intentionally set. Investigators from the Rutland City Police Department, Vermont State Police and Vermont Division of Fire Safety are continuing the investigation. Physical evidence was collected at the scene and will be processed at the Vermont Department of Public Safety Crime Lab. There were no reported injuries as a result of this fire.
