New books, DVDs at the Johnsburg Library

NORTH CREEK - The Town of Johnsburg Library invites its readers to check out some of our new fiction, including "Beat the Reaper" by Josh Bazell, "Plum Spooky" by Janet Evanovich, "Black Ops" by W.E.B. Griffin, and "Break Neck" by Erica Spindler.

New non-fiction offerings include "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell and "Things I've Been Silent About" by Azar Nafisi. New DVDs that are available include Vicky Christina Barcelona, Frozen River, The Duchess, and Brideshead Revisited.

Caleb Eick's recent class on how to download books to an MP3 was a huge success. He is available at the library every Saturday to answer any questions concerning either downloading books or laptop computer usage. The last knitting class will be held Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. Judy LaPenna's Story Hour on Fridays from 10-11 a.m. continues to entertain children with interesting stories, fingerplays, and creative crafts.

The library book club's February selection is "The Zookeeper's Wife" by Diane Ackerman. This work of non-fiction tells the story of a Warsaw couple who owned a zoo and helped to shelter Jews and members of the Resistance during World War II. The book club will meet at the library March 5 at 6 p.m. to discuss the book. We welcome new readers.

The Friends of Johnsburg Library are currently looking for new members. The meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month at the library. Call Susan at the library at 251-4343 for details. The library could also use volunteers on Wednesday or Thursday during library hours. We look forward to welcoming you to the library.
