Forty-year town employee to retire

Christian and Moon welcome baby boy

Amanda Christian and Nicholas Moon of Schroon Lake are proud to announce the birth of a son, born Monday Jan. 26 weighing 6 pounds 4.5 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long, at Glens Falls Hospital

Proud grandparents are Patricia and William Christian of Schroon Lake and Tammy and Nick Moon of Thurman.

Deep appreciation was expressed this week from Ken and Chrissy Ackley to the Thurman Emergency Squad for their prompt service and compassion to the Ackleys' call on Jan. 23. The Ackleys also appreciate all the help from their neighbors, Jerry and Fran Remington and son Daryl, Donna Knickerbocker and Cheryl Ross, plus all the others who have helped them in various ways. The Ackleys reserve a special Thank You to Pauline Buckner for always being there.

Sympathy from the community goes out to the family of Alan "Duffer" Hall who passed away Jan. 30.

Get Well wishes are out to Ken Ackley, Doreen Cooper, Jeff Grants, Carl Clemons, Liz Kennedy, Vern Baker Jr. and to all who have the flu-type illness - like me - at this time.

All of the Thurman volunteer firefighters are appreciated for responding to the early morning calls so promptly that occurred twice in a month a home on Garnet Lake Rd. Thank You one and all for rescuing the new town judge Filomena Rivielo from her worries when all the smoke alarms went off at her home.

Thank You's also go to Daniel and Chipper for shoveling off all the snow on this correspondent's roof.

Over the fence

The Gleaning food distribution will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 17 the Thurman Town Hall. This free food program is open to all residents. Call 623-9640 for information.
