Bank announces LaFiura promotion

GLENS FALLS - Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company has announced the promotion of Melissa S. LaFiura to vice president and training manager.

LaFiura joined the Bank in 1999 as a training coordinator. She was promoted to training officer in 2001 and assistant vice president and training officer in 2004. She graduated from Minerva Central School in Olmstedville, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Communications from Bryant College in Rhode Island. She has also completed extensive graduate work in Professional and Technical Writing at Northeastern University.

LaFiura is active in the community serving as secretary of the Washington County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. Community Action Angels Advisory Board, a volunteer at both the New York State Boys Basketball Section II and the Boys State Basketball Championship Tournaments and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Wilton.

LaFiura also served on the Job Discovery Planning Committee for 15 years and was a member of the Bank's internal United Way Campaign. She was elected to the Bank's High Performance Club in 2001, and the Winner of the First Quarter Community Service Volunteer Award of 2007.

LaFiura resides in Fort Edward, with her husband, Joe and son, L.J.
