Vintage guns, military artifacts to be featured at gun show

LAKE GEORGE - A gun show sponsored by the New Eastcoast Arms Collectors Associates is set for Sunday Feb. 8 at a local resort, and an area citizens' organization will be there to help rally support for hunting and landowners' rights in the Adirondacks.

The public is invited to the show - which includes sales, trades and exhibits of firearms - to be held at the Lake George Holiday Inn Turf from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show includes collector, antique and investment firearms, Americana, decoys, books, traps, hunting and shooting accessories, and more.

The Eastcoast Arms Collectors Associates is an organization based in Mechanicville known for its arms fairs.

The Property Rights Foundation of America, based in Stony Creek, will be hosting the hunting and citizens' rights exhibit. Foundation officials will be explaining current issues facing property owners, communities, and hunters in the Adirondacks.

Over the past decade, both private ownership of land and the existence of hunting camps in the Adirondacks have faced multiple threats, Foundation officials have warned.

Such actions include the state's 1998 acquisition of Champion International lands, and recent transactions between The Nature Conservancy and the state Dept. of Environmental Conservation over the former Finch Pruyn lands. Both these tracts involve extensive hunting club leases.

The Lake George gun show is a scaled-down version of one held primarily in Saratoga Springs. The next show in Saratoga is set for March 20-22.
