NORTH CREEK - A shortcut path has been forged on Gore Mountain between the Twister trail and the Burnt Ridge area. Skiers and boarders are struggling in both directions through a narrow windy but short path rather than using the Gully trail.
The Gully is a long, flat trail starting by the Gore Mountain Base Lodge and ending at the Burnt Ridge Quad lift. Around eleven small saplings along with several trees stand in the way of making the little path a proper trail connection. Besides a quicker connection there is another reason to make this little path a proper trail. Right now, it's impossible to know if the Burnt Ridge Quad is open before taking a leap of faith down to the lift. If the path became a trail, a simple rope across the new access would answer that question.
Many are not sure what the policy is on the Burnt Ridge being open or closed during the weekday. However, last Tuesday it was open. The two skiers in the photo can be seen struggling upward along the path to the Twister trail.
