Talking 'bout birthdays

Birthdays are nice, but as we grow older some would rather not dwell on the number of years we are celebrating. This is not true for our children as I learned this past week of some special celebrations. The Barnaby family recently gathered at the Butcher Block Restaurant to celebrate Joe Barnaby's 75th year. The family of Lucy Belzile came together with some 25 members of her family to celebrate her 83d birthday. It was also a time to remember the passing of their father Roger Belzile with happy memories. They all had a great time. There's a large sign out front of the Collins house to honk to help Doris celebrate her 80th birthday. A special time for John Remancus's 98th birthday. January seemed to be a great month for birthdays.

I learned of an incident worth mentioning that happened a short while back. It seems that Crystal Sayward, a waitress at Rick's Place, noticed a person was not able to catch their breath and appeared to be quietly choking. Crystal acted immediately successfully performing the Heimlich Maneuver , relieving the person, and then modestly returned back to what she was doing. We have much to be proud of in our youth, hats off to you Crystal. I was able to check on Joyce Blanchard's current condition, her family said she is doing great, hopeful that she may be able to come home in a couple of weeks. They are grateful for all the prayers and reaching out to Joyce, but don't stop, keep up prayers for her full health recovery. The Family of Justin Joslyn got great news this past week, no more traces of Cancer on his last check up, here to keep up our prayers for him.

Another great movie coming on Saturday Feb. 7 at the local Willsboro School starting at 8 p.m. The movie showing will be "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," a Woody Allen film, several awards were nominated for this film. The same evening, the second Coffee House Event at the Willsboro Congregational Church will feature "The Too Tall String Band" stating at 7 p.m. A lot of winter fun events still happening up at the Camps at Pok-o McCready area. All kind of fun things happen in Willsboro in the winter, not just in the summer.

Birthday Greetings to: Anna Mayville 2/6, Roger King 2/6, Taylor Strong 2/6, Edna Coonrod 2/7, Peter Dwyer 2/8, Nicholas Ball 2/9, Dillon Spooner 2/10, Cody Sayward 2/10, Nancy Ahrent 2/12, Olivia Kelly 2/12, Ronald Strong 2/11, Dian Ahrent 2/11, Mary Sue Arnold 2/13.
