Ti students visit art museum

TICONDEROGA - Ticonderoga Middle School seventh grade students learned about and viewed the art and the artists at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls recently.

In small groups, the students spent 45 minutes touring the house and collection with a French or Spanish speaking docent. The docents spoke about the stories surrounding the collection, the house and the Hyde family and answered questions from the students on any of those topics.

When not on tour, the students worked on an art project, depending on if they were on the Spanish or French tour.

The Spanish groups illustrated an Aztec or Mayan story that their teacher, Heather York, taught the day before the trip.

The French groups painted an original picture using pointillism, a technique created by French painter Georges Seurat. The French students, taught by Kari Millard, learned about Georges Seurat and other artists featured at The Hyde Collection the week of the trip.
