Crown Point, Schroon score hardwood wins

Crown Point topped Johnsburg, 42-34, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Dec. 8.

Jessica Potter scored 17 points to pace the Panthers, 11 in the final quarter as Crown Point rallied for the win.

Marissa Titus added 14 points for the winners.

Schroon 47, ELCS 29

Schroon Lake cruised past Elizabethtown-Lewis, 47-29, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Dec. 8.

Jocelyn Bowen scored 21 points to key the Wildcats. She also made seven steals on the defensive end.

Schroon had seven players score in its most-balanced effort of the season.

Bolton 41,

Crown Point 31

Bolton rallied in the second half to down Crown Point, 41-31, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Dec. 10.

Crown Point held a one-point lead at intermission, but Bolton started the third period with a 14-6 run to claim control.

Jessica Potter scored 14 points for the Panthers.

Willsboro 33, Schroon 27

A cold third quarter proved costly for Schroon Lake as it lost to Willsboro, 33-27, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Dec. 10.

The Wildcats went scoreless to start the second half as Willsboro jumped to an 11-point lead. Schroon rallied in the final period, but its comeback fell short.

Jocelyn Bowen had nine points for the locals.

Lake Placid 63,

Moriah 35

Moriah lost to Lake Placid, 63-35, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Dec. 11.

The contest was close until Lake Placid went on a 26-2 to start the second half.

Hayley Waldron scored 20 points for Moriah.

AVCS 46, Ticonderoga 26

AuSable Valley beat Ticonderoga, 46-26, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Dec. 11.

The game was close most of the way, but AVCS closed the game with a 14-2.

Taylor Denno and Kaylene Ross each had five points for the Sentinels.
