Fundraising for Meals on Wheels

For 15 years Meals on Wheels volunteers Maria Contro and Raymond Nymaln have been selling poinsettas during the Christmas season in order to raise money for the program which provides meals for area seniors. John McAveeney, the owner of Sunshine Acres Garden Center in Chester provides them with the flowers, and with the help of many volunteers, over $2,000 is raised for the Meals on Wheels program. Last year, Contro said, the program provided 42,000 meals with the help of over 70 volunteers.
