Solari-Ruscoe said she feels breaking down donations to that amount will make people realize how affordable a charitable contribution to the nonprofit organization can be, especially considering donations are tax-deductible. Ultimately, if the fundraising drive is successful, it will allow the shelter's board of directors and staff to be able to fully concentrate their efforts on finding homes for shelter animals.
"When you're constantly dealing with financial issues at the shelter, it takes away from our focus," she said.
Donations toward the Elmore SPCA 1,200 Club may be mailed to the shelter, P.O. Box 686 Peru N.Y. 12972. Contributions may also be arranged on-line at the shelter's Web site, www.elmorespca.org.
