Vikings look to go undefeated

SCHROON LAKE - With all 10 of his players returning from a year ago, Coach Paul Mieras has a modest goal for his Mountainside Christian Academy boys basketball team.

"We want to go undefeated in the 2009-10 season," he said.

The Vikings just might do it. They were 8-13 last season and have more experience than any team they'll face this winter.

Kevin Fortier returns at center along with Uriah Harvey.

A year ago Fortier led the team in scoring with 12.8 points a game was was second in rebounding with 4.9 caroms a contest. Harvey led the club in rebounding with 6.5 a game.

John Anduyrk, Duncan Sabatini, Joe Wilson, Brandon Mieras and Daniel Fullum return to the Mountainside back court.

Anduyrk topped MCS in assists, 4.7, and steals, 2.3, a game last season.

Carl Sabatini, Jake Joseph and Shin Onogi return at forward.

"We have all our students returning, so we're looking forward to a very good season," Coach Mieras said. "Our goal is to win our tourney in Ross Corners, near Binghamton, in early December - and go undefeated in the 2009-10 season."
