KEENE VALLEY - The Keene Valley girls basketball team is ready to surprise some of the other teams in the MVAC this year.
The Beavers return four players from last year's squad, including All-Star senior Emma Nye, who led Section VII in scoring last year. She's joined by fellow seniors Taylor McCabe, and Megan Ostroski, who sat out with an injury last year. Also returning are sophomores Anna Kowanko and Amanda Boyle.
Senior Elizabeth Cave and juniors Jessica Caner and Stephanie Shackett join the team this year along with sophomores Emma Gothner and promising freshmen Megan Hall, Sadie Holbrook, and Hanna McCabe.
"Hopefully, with the teams above .500, we're going to be competitive with them and be a spoiler come sectional time," said head coach Fred Hooper. "We'd like to find ourselves in a quarterfinal sectional game."
