ELIZABETHTOWN - The Elizabethtown-Lewis girls basketball team are going to be relying on the growth of their young players this year.
The team lost nine players to graduation or transfer and returns only two seniors: Cassie Jones and Chelsea Provost.
"In my nine years as ELCS girls varsity coach, I never had such a massive turnover as we have this year," said head coach Don Ratliff.
The team will feature 10 new players, including juniors Jessica McGinn and Nicole Podmore. Sophomores Clare Harwood and Andrea LeVien are likely to play a key role, and freshmen Kylee Cassavaugh, Jennifer McGinn, and Kearsten Ashline. Eighth graders Shonna Brooks and Lily Whalen will provide much-needed depth.
"I do like what I see in the new players and the leadership of the seniors," said Ratliff. "We are building towards a bright future."
