SCHROON LAKE - Schroon Lake's boys basketball team is about to find out about life after Ethan Tyrrell.
Tyrrell, arguably the area's best player the past two seasons, has graduated. The Wildcats will have to replace 20 points a game lost with their Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference all star and four-year varsity player.
Coach Dana Shaughnessy is looking forward to the challenge.
"With five returning players and a talented group of young men coming up from JV I expect a very interesting season," Shaughnessy said. "We will need to work hard to develop a level of play that Ethan brought to us."
Leading the returning Wildcats are Brennan Bush and Cody Armstrong.
Bush scored 14 points a game and hauled down 12 rebounds a contest as Schroon Lake posted 15-7 overall, 8-2 MVAC record last season.
Armstrong added seven points and two caroms a game in 2008-09.
"Brennan Bush and Codu Armstrong will prove to be the leaders this season," Shaughnessy said. "With Brennan's rebounding and Cody's sharp shooting, I look forward to a great season."
Bush will line up at center along with Jordan Taylor.
Armstrong will play guard with Jesse Shaughnessy, Lance Paradis, Ian Williams and Justin Saville.
The forwards will be Anthony Vanderwalker, Nick Langabeer, Wesley Beers and Kyle Taylor.
Assisting with the coaching chores this season is Dave Williams.
