The pride and joy of the museum is the civil war room where stories are told of local men who fought in the war and of their horses, one of which is buried at the homestead with a headstone listing the battles both horse and rider experienced.
The Harwood Homestead B&B is next door to the Penfield homestead. This house was originally built for Penfield's son-in-law, although it is not part of the museum, it is as rich in history. For more information call 597-3429.
The parsonage for the church is now the museum business office, and the research/genealogy library. All proceeds of Heritage Day go to the museum and its research efforts. For more information visit the Penfield museum website at www.penfieldmuseum.org or call 597-3804.
