North Warren Chamber looking for new ways to promote tourism

The 10th anniversary Pug Parade is now set for Oct.18. This event has been getting more popular each year, and it received some substantial regional attention last year.

The Pug Parade committee will have its next meeting May 6, meanwhile organizer Pam Morin is working on finalizing locations for all the extra events planned.

Work is also progressing on the Chamber's Summerfest event. Edna Trumble has penned contracts for the chicken barbecue, a face painter, and a caricaturist: the talented Tim Cordell. Space for vendors will be $20 for non-chamber members and $10 for Chamber members. Call Trumble at 494-4449 to reserve spaces.

The Chamber's annual VIP dinner is scheduled for May 1 at Jimbo's Restaurant. Tom Johansen was chosen as the Chamber's 2009 Very Important Person. Reservations can be made by calling Jimbo's at 494-4460 or 494-3213 and must be made by April 24.

Joyce Houck has resigned as the Chamber's administrative Assistant, and the agency is taking applications to fill her position. Chamber members gave Houck a retirement party Wednesday, thanking her for all her valuable work.

The next regular meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. May 6 at the Town of Chester library.
