TICONDEROGA - The third annual LaChute Spring Cleaning is slated for Saturday, May 2, from 10a.m.- 4 p.m.
Last year's cleanup brought out over 100 community volunteers to work together with local youth to clean up along the LaChute River Walk Trail. The clean-up brought the collection of three yards of garbage and the trimming of sumac around the walking bridge and along the trail.
The foot bridge was reconstructed by Miranda Ross in the summer of 2008 as her eagle award.
"I hope that this year's clean up will be even bigger than last year's," CYC director Kristi Mars stated. "It was amazing what this group accomplished last year in just one day. It would wonderful if we get private companies involved again offering support and equipment this year like we did last year."
This event offers local youth an opportunity to work with adults in the community on a project that beautifies the local area, Mars said.
"This project will be enlarged this year by including a crew to clean-up along the upper LaChute trail in preparation of work to be done to connect the upper LaChute trail to the lower LaChute trail," Mars said.
Lunch will be served for free to all clean-up volunteers.
"If your organization would like to participate in the clean up with man/woman power or with a monetary donation to purchase needs items for the clean-up, or if you have any questions call me at 585-6366," Mars said. "All are welcome, all ages, bring the whole family and make a day of it."
