KEENE VALLEY - The Lady Beavers are looking to continue their recent success in MVAC softball. With an overall record of 8-4 last year, Keene advanced all the way to the Section VII Class D quarterfinals. Though they suffer the loss of pitching ace Carrie Shackett, the team returns a core of proven upperclassmen and a promising group of freshmen.
"We're going to be competitive," said head coach Darrin Seeley. "We expect to be right up there again."
All-star seniors Summer Reed and Alicia Ashe return to provide the offensive spark for the Beavers as well as a strong defensive presence in the left infield. Junior Emma Nye will be the primary force on the mound. Other returning players include senior Courtney Collete, juniors Brianna Murphy and Nycole Gifford, and freshman Sarah Abbott, all key in the outfield. Newcomers include Ayano Sato, Caitlyn Reynolds, Anna Kowenko, Emma Gothner, Amanda Boyle, and freshman hurler Brittany Guerin.
