Well, (3592 times) I have some news and I better put it first before I forget it. On May 1 at 6 p.m., the Youth Fellowship of the Essex Methodist Church is cooking a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit its trip to the Children's Summer Camp. Last year it was delicious and the same chef, Kate List, will be cooking and the kids will be serving. Warn the kids not to give you too much since their portions are sized for teens. I will be there and will report everyone attending or maybe not attending.
Then the Adirondack Museum in E-town will hold their annual Maple Sugar Festival, with help from the E-Town and Lewis Kiwanians. Schedules are: Pancake Breakfast 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; whilst at 12.30 the Talkers Tent will feature "Growing Up Strong" authors; Pancake eating contest at 1 p.m. with different age groupings, and also at 1 p.m. is the Maple Dessert Contest; at 2 p.m. the maple dessert tasting includes an announcement of the beard contest results. All day long: sap boiling demonstration with Bernard Duso; Maple sugar slide show of previous festivals of 1957 to 2008 (come an identify folk); maple product sales by local sappers; and a Central School student art exhibit.
Now for the ranting section. Will someone tell me why the U.S. Congress is going to vote on Global Warming? Does that mean that if they vote "no" there will not be a Global Warming?
Don't forget the art show this weekend at the VanOrnam building in Essex. Wes Vanderhorst and Tom Carrick have entered in the annual DNC cane 10 yard dash. Ron Jackson is recuperating from his entry into the Eviel Kenievel jump, Sons Craig and Justin were up in case Ron needed to get his money out of the mattress, brother Bob was willing to count, and daughter-in-law Jennifer, with his grandchildren mopped his brow. Clint Allen came up, which had nothing to do with Ron. Carol Muller's son John Gray's arrival also had nothing to do with Ron, and Marsha Wright is opening her snazzy new full service restaurant, Me and My Girls, in Westport next week which also has nothing to do with Ron. Also saw a bluebird and robin, which had nothing to do with Ron, and our usual snow birds are on their way north, so lock up your valuables.
