Vikings to rely

PORT HENRY - Moriah's softball team returns eight players from last season, but the key to success will be replacing one who has graduated.

Gone is all-state hurler Kaylee Sprague.

Stepping up to fill those shoes this spring is Samantha Slattery.

Helping her on defense will be catcher Courtney Waldron, first baseman Ashleigh Allen, second baseman Kayla Gagnon, shortstop Kaycee Kolodzey, third baseman Chelsea Cutting, leftfielder Sherri Guffey and centerfielder Jenny Tesar.

All are returning players.

"Pitching and defense will be our keys for a successful season," Coach Billie Jo Simpson said.

Newcomers to the squad are first baseman/outfielder Jenna Bouyea, infielder/outfielders Dana Aurilio and Jarrah Jerdo and outfielder Chelsea MacDougal.
