Deadline nears for library wine-tasting

CHESTERTOWN - The Friends of the Chester Library will be holding its fourth Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Sunday May 3, and reservations to attend the event are due by Wednesday April 22.

To be held at the Friends Lake Inn from 1 p.m. to 4p.m., this is the fourth annual event of its kind, which features Friends Lake Inn's award-winning wine list and hospitality. Also, the event is considered a premier social event in the North Country.

Thanks to the generosity of John & Trudy Phillips of Friends Lake Inn plus the many local merchants and artisans who donate items for the auction, the Friends of the Chester Library has been able to provide equipment and materials for the library, Friends group spokeswoman Barbara Repp said this week.

Through the generosity of donors, the Friends group has provided funds for new computers, book shelves, window shades, and many new books and videos for the library, she said.

"Your participation and generosity help make the Chester Library the heart of our small but enthusiastic community," she said. "So join us for good company, wonderful auction items, and great wine from around the world."

Reservations for the event are $25 and can be made at the library or by mailing a check payable to the Friends of the Chester Library, P.O. Box 451, Chestertown, NY 12817. For further information, call the library at 494-5384.
