CHESTERTOWN - The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, featuring award-winning violinist Philippe Quint, will be presenting a captivating program of classical music Friday April 24 at North Warren Central School.
North Warren students will be able to attend at no charge, but people from throughout the region are urged to attend.
The program includes outstanding selections of Mozart, Beethoven and Korngard that showcase the considerable talents of the orchestra, according to North Warren Music Instructor Maria Swartz.
The Syracuse Symphony, under the direction of the charismatic Daniel Hege, has performed critically acclaimed concerts in front of sold-out crowds at Carnegie Hall in New York City, as well as concerts in major cities across North America.
Quint's talents will be featured in several selections, particularly in Korngold's Violin Concerto. The concert also includes Mozart's Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, and Beethoven's 3rd Symphony.
Tickets to the concert, only $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students, are available either at the door or in advance by calling 494-3015 ext. 518.
The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., is sponsored by the North Warren Performing Arts Club. Proceeds from the event sponsors this group, which enables students to travel to see professional productions, take music performance field trips and sponsors private lessons for qualified students.
