Almost daily student-athletes make their way from Ticonderoga High School up Lake George Avenue to Alexandria Avenue to Ti Middle School's athletic fields for sports practices and contests. The extended trail will allow student-athletes to make the trip without walking along streets.
Reynolds isn't certain when the project will start.
"I'm not sure what can be done this year," she said. "We have to get the contracts and wait for the money to be released."
Reynolds and Morrison were scheduled to meet with state DOT officials about the trail work this week.
Earlier, PRIDE received a $40,000 state Waterfront Revitalization grant on behalf of Ticonderoga for signage at the entry points to the hamlet.
"They're separate grants, but we're going to try to look at the two as a single project," Reynolds said. "The highway department is instrumental in both."
