PLATTSBURGH - The North Country Workforce Investment Board has announced it is taking applications for its annual North Country Summer Youth Employment Program.
This year's program will serve approximately 450 eligible youths ages 14-24. The program runs from May through August for older youths and from July through August for younger.
The employment program provides eight weeks of entry-level work experience to participants, who are paid between $7.25 and $8 per hour.
The young people will work in a variety of entry-level jobs at community-based organizations, for-profit companies, and government agencies. Some examples include cleaning parks, helping restore an historic cemetery, providing additional building maintenance services, and painting benches and picnic tables.
Those interested in participating in the program must submit an application by Friday, May 8, in Clinton and Franklin counties and by Saturday, May 30, in Essex County. Interested youths must meet certain eligibility requirements.
