Grow your own vegetables

PLATTSBURGH - In response to the huge interest in growing food at home, this year's Spring Garden Day will focus on vegetables with separate tracks for beginning and experienced gardeners. This annual event is coordinated by the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension and this year it will be held Saturday, April 25 at Clinton Community College from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Beginner workshops include first time veggies, small scale gardening and tomatoes. Topics for experienced gardeners include vertical gardening, more than lettuce, garlic and leeks, and uncommon vegetables. There will also be workshops on growing your own salsa, gardening in containers and strawberries.

The cost includes four sessions, materials for all sessions, lunch and door prizes. Registration is $40. Workshops will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis and many are expected to fill up so register early.
