Annual Lake Placid Village Clean-Up planned for April 25

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Village Clean-Up, sponsored by the Lake Placid Garden Club is an annual event that has been going strong for over 50 years. This is a community event that brings together residents of all ages, local service organizations and businesses.

The 2009 Village Clean-Up is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. In the event of rain, it will be postponed to May 2. Registration is at the Olympic Center Box Office from 9-10 a.m. Participants will register to join or lead a group, be assigned an area, pick-up bags, lunch tickets and recycling information. A volunteer lunch will follow the clean-up at the Peacock Village Park Beach House. Pre-registration for neighborhoods and specific streets can be done by contacting the organizers before April 23. In case of inclement weather please tune to local radio WSLP FM 93.3 for updates.

All participants should wear gloves. Garbage bags are provided by the Village of Lake Placid. The Town of North Elba Transfer Station waives the fees for Clean-Up litter and encourages separating the recyclable items.
