WESTPORT - On Saturday, April 18, Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will hold a Workshop at the Essex County Fairgrounds, Westport to provide information to local landowners on the planting and care of tree and shrub seedlings.
From 10 a.m. until noon, the Conservation District staff will discuss site requirements and the importance of soils in choosing seedlings. The uses of seedlings for wildlife, windbreaks, erosion control, shoreline protection and the best trees for the project. The District will also discuss programs available to purchase seedlings and possible technical and financial assistance in carrying out planting projects.
