Dear Editor:

There are many reasons why under-age drinkers drink. As a class we feel the top five top reasons are: some kids think it's cool to drink because adults drink and they want to be like them; parent's provide alcohol at kid parties; people in Ticonderoga drink because they think it will make them feel better about something they did in their past. There's also too many parties in Ticonderoga. Kids also don't think drinking will harm them.

Our community can help us to not start drinking under-age by:

1) Not drinking alcohol in front of us.

2) Warn little kids about the dangers of alcohol.

3) Parents need to remove alcohol from the home when kids have a party.

4) Adults should separate alcohol from soda at parties and watch kids closely to make sure they do not drink the alcohol.

Thank You,

Mrs. Huntington's 5th Grade Class

Dear Editor:

There are too many underage drinkers in Ticonderoga. Kids think drinking makes them cool and fit in. They think that they can sneak alcohol from their parent's coolers and refrigerators and not get caught. Some kids think drinking makes them happier.

We as a class think there are many ways to prevent under-age drinking. Adults can not supply alcohol to minors by keeping it in a safe place. Parents should explain the effects and dangers of under-age drinking to their children at a young age. Cashiers should ask everyone for identification and where the alcohol is going.

Thank You,
