TICONDEROGA - Children won't be the only ones looking for goodies at the Ticonderoga Spring Fling today.
A dozen merchants in downtown Ticonderoga will offer at least 10 percent off on an item or service or an item free for the period April 11-25 in celebration of the arrival of the Easter Bunny at Bicentennial Park.
Sponsored by the Kiwanis of Ticonderoga, the annual Ticonderoga Easter egg hunt will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park in downtown Ticonderoga followed by the annual Spring Fling in the Ticonderoga Community Building.
All local youngsters, 10 and younger, are invited to participate in four flights tiered by ages. As always, all the candy and other goodies in the hunt will be likely to have vanished by 10:10 a.m.
In the event of bad weather, the Easter egg hunt will be moved to the Ticonderoga Community Center (the former armory) on Champlain Avenue.
The Ticonderoga Main Street Partnership worked with local merchants to put together the promotional event. Flyers displaying the coupons will be passed out at the Spring Fling and Easter egg hunt on April 11.
Rolly Allen of the enterprise committee of TMSP said this will be an exciting, unique opportunity to provide savings opportunities to consumers while helping build traffic and sales for participating merchants.
Flyers with coupons will also be available at participating merchants.
"The Easter Bunny is wildly enthusiastic about the promotion and wants parents, children and consumers to have a 'hoppy' time over the two week promotional period," Allen said.
Participating merchants include Riverside Village Salon & Boutique, Ginos Ti Pi, JP Sports, Two Brothers Meat Market, Sunshine Laundry & Cleaning, Rathbun Jewelers, Indulge at Roxie's, Burleigh's Luncheonette, The Hot Biscuit Diner, Adams Rib, House of Pizza and The Country Florist.
