TICONDEROGA - The deadline to enter Ti Idol has been extended until April 12.
Applications are available at CENTURY 21 Adirondacks in Ticonderoga,Two Brothers Market and Burleigh's Luncheonette in Ticonderoga. For information or to have an application Emailed, call 585-2234.
Patterned after the television program, "American Idol," the event is open to individual vocal performances only in junior (ages 7-12), teen (ages 13-18) and adult categories.
All contestants must reside full time within a 45-mile radius of Ticonderoga and must be amateurs. No bands or electrical instruments will be permitted.
Semi finals will be held at Ticonderoga High School. The semifinal shows are scheduled for May 9 and June 6. The finals will be July 3 at 6 p.m. in Bicentennial Park.
Tickets for the semifinal shows are $6 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students. There is also a three-show ticket for $15 for adults and $9 for senior citizens and students. Proceeds from Ti Idol shows are used for Ticonderoga July 4th celebration.
Karen Henderson of Port Henry, Gracie Agee of Crown Point and Kelsey Finley of Fort Edward were the 2008 Ti Idols.
Henderson won the adult division, Agee the junior class and Finley the teen category.
The finals were held July 3 in Bicentennial Park as part of the community's annual "Best Fourth in the North" celebration.
Chris Hartley was second and John Brooks third in the adult competition.
In the teen division, ages 13-18, Abbey Agee was second and Vanessa Fuller third.
In the junior division, ages 7-12, Alyssa Rodriguez was second and Kaitlin Diskin third.
