Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis and Pink Martini will perform at the 2009 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, organizers of the annual event announced last week. Tickets for these shows-just three of the festival's events-went on sale to the general public this week.
Grammy(r) Award winner and multi-platinum selling pianist Diana Krall, celebrating her upcoming new release Quiet Nights, will perform at the Flynn MainStage on Sunday, June 7. Krall has topped both the pop and jazz charts, played sold-out amphitheatres around the world and has sold millions of records since her debut in 1993.
On Friday, June 12, the festival welcomes three-time Grammy(r) winning saxophonist and revered artist Branford Marsalis to the Flynn MainStage. His nearly two dozen recordings, including his latest, Metamorphosen, along with his dazzling live performances on the world's most celebrated stages, have amassed countless accolades and won him a broad following passionate about his musical excellence.
The 12-piece phenomenon Pink Martini has captivated audiences throughout the world with its multilingual repertoire that swirls together Latin jazz, Brazilian samba and Afro-Cuban rumba with Japanese film noir music and sultry 30's cabaret songs. The group's three albums, including its most recent released on its own Heinz label, have sold more than two million copies worldwide. They perform on the Flynn MainStage Saturday, June 13.
