TICONDEROGA - Michael Diskin of Ticonderoga, Essex County treasurer, recently attended the Legislative Meeting of the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers, and Finance Officers (NACCTFO) held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The meeting included continuing education courses in state and national treasury policy and management offered by the Public Policy Administration program through the University of Missouri at Saint Louis.
The certificate program gives elected collectors, treasurers and finance officers an opportunity to stay current on the challenges they face in their professions. The nationally-recognized faculty members from the University of Missouri at Saint Louis who teach the courses provide the attendees with up-to-date information on recent administrative and managerial innovations. Coursework includes efficient methods of running a county office as well as innovations in personnel management and public services.
Diskin has completed 43 different classes taught by faculty members from the University of Missouri at Saint Louis and has received 144 hours of credit.
He also serves as the chairman of the NACCTFO Legislative Committee, which follows legislation on the national level that is of importance to collectors, treasurers and finance officers around the country.
He has been the Essex County treasurer for the past 14 years and is a past president of the New York State Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers.
