Area students awarded Bar scholarships

GLENS FALLS The Warren County Bar Foundation announced this week that $15,000 in law school scholarships have been awarded for the 2008-09 academic year. For the 2008-09 academic year, the following scholarships were awarded: The John C. Mannix Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Matthew LaLone of Stony Creek. LaLone is entering his final year at the University of Connecticut School of Law. The scholarship is awarded to honor Jack Mannix who passed away in 2006. Mannix was a past board member of the Bar Foundation and one of its most generous supporters. Other awards include the John G. Dier Memorial Scholarship to Sarah Wappett-Kendall of Queensbury; and the John and Laura Miller Memorial Scholarship to Nicole Middleton of Fort Edward. Among other recipients, a scholarship was awarded to Danielle Audette, originally from Lake George, who is studying at Florida Central School of Law. For decades, the Foundation has been awarding scholarships to area residents attending law schools. The Foundation also gives financial assistance to high school or college students attending legal conferences.
