Ticonderoga topples Moriah; Panthers, 'Cats fall

Ticonderoga topped archrival Moriah, 4-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer play Sept. 10. Katelyn Mercer scored twice, while Carly aka Judy Tubbs added a goal and two assists for the Sentinels. Jessie Patchett scored the other Ticonderoga goal. Taylor Denno added an assist. Mercer joined with Jocelyn Barber to make 15 saves in goal for Ti. Moriah got a goal and an assist from Jen Tesar. Chynna Allen also scored for the Vikings. Brooke Sheffer and Hailey Chapuk combined to make 11 saves in the Moriah goal. Westport 2, Schroon Lake 0 Schroon Lake lost to Westport, 2-0, in overtime in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer action Sept. 10. Allison Sherman tallied both Eagle goals. Mindy Whitty made 16 saves in net for Schroon. Willsboro 5, Crown Point 1 Crown Point dropped a 5-1 decision to Willsboro in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer action Sept. 10. Hailey White scored for Crown Point with an assist from Paige Dolback. Ashley Morgan and Jessica Potter combined to make 19 saves for the Panthers. Peru 3, Ticonderoga 0 Ticonderoga lost to Peru, 3-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer play Sept. 12. Stephanie Omlin tallied twice for the Indians. Katelyn Mercer made 12 saves in goal for Ti. ELCS 1, Schroon Lake 0 Elizabethtown-Lewis edged Schroon Lake, 1-0, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer action Sept. 12. Kelsey Gibson scored in the first half and the Eagles made it stand up for the victory. Mindy Whitty made 15 saves in the Schroon goal. Saranac Lake 3, Moriah 0 Moriah lost to Saranac Lake, 3-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer play Sept. 15. Corinne Becker tallied twice for the Red Storm. Catherine Hickok made 25 saves in goal for Moriah. NCCS 5, Ticonderoga 0 Northeastern Clinton downed Ticonderoga, 5-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer play Sept. 15. Kim Dragoon scored three times for the Cougars. Katelyn Mercer combined with Jocelyn Barber to make nine saves in the Ticonderoga goal.
