Ti, Moriah post victories

Ticonderoga used its tried-and-true formula a rugged ground game and stout defense to beat Peru, 26-0, in Northern Football Conference action Sept. 12. The Sentinels ran for 229 yards and four touchdowns while holding Peru to a 76 yards total offense. Ti was so dominating on the ground it didnt need to complete a single pass. Bryant Austin led the running attack, gaining 107 yards and scoring twice. Todd Carr ran for 71 yards and a TD. Austin got Ticonderoga on the board with a 12-yard TD run in the first period. That was it for the first half as Ti went to intermission with a 6-0 advantage. Matt Bussey scored on a 14-yard run early in the third period and Carr ran for the two-point conversion to give the Sentinels a 14-0 edge. Austin broke free for a 35-yard TD scamper late in the quarter to put Ti on top, 20-0. Carr closed out the scoring with a yard TD run early in the final period. Moriah 28, St. Lawrence 0 Moriah blanked St. Lawrence, 28-0, in Northern Football Conference play Sept. 13. It marked the second straight shut out for the Viking defense, which forced five St. Lawrence turnovers. Jim Carlson paved the way on offense for Moriah, running for 108 yards and scoring all four Viking touchdowns. Carlson scored on runs of 22 and 5 yards in the second period and Moriah took a 14-0 lead and added TD runs of 3 and 33 yards in the second quarter for a 28-0 advantage at intermission. Mike Brassard kicked all four extra points. Moriah got interceptions from Nate Gilbo and Ryan Huchro. Recovering fumbles for the Vikings were Brassard, Jud Zelinski and Sergio Camacho.
