Body of missing Keene man found by troopers

KEENE State Troopers have located the body of Jeremy Quinn, who has been missing since 7 a.m. Sept. 2. Denton Publications will continue to provide updates as this story develops. BACKGROUND Jeremy Quinn, age 38, was last seen around 7 a.m. on Sept. 2. He reportedly called into work that morning saying that he was going to be 20 minutes late, but after he failed to show up for work, friends and family grew concerned. Quinns unattended vehicle was found that evening near a private camp on Hickey Road. Quinn is a caretaker for the camp as well as several others in the area. Suspecting Quinn to be lost or injured, authorities immediately began a formal search for Quinn, dispatching DEC Forest Rangers and police, local fire department volunteers, State Police aviation and canine units. Throughout the night, a total of about 50 people scanned the woods in an the Hurricane Mountain region where his vehicle was found. With no signs of Quinn, searches continued. Essex County Sherrifs deputies, members of Search and Rescue for the Northern Adirondacks (SARNAK), Adirodack Park Agency staff, Quinns co-workers, and other volunteers all joined in the following day. Intense searches continued through Sept. 4 with more than 150 people contributing. Feeling the search area had been thoroughly covered, Forest Rangers concluded that he was not in the area. Since then, State Police have taken over the investigation as a missing person case as the DEC and members of the community continue to assist in the search. "I appreciate, and impressed by, the level of cooperation between all of the state and local agencies and organizations, said DEC Forest Ranger Captain John Streiff, I am most appreciative of the efforts made by the people in the communities of Keene and Keene Valley. Their outpouring of assistance, in many forms, ensured that the search effort was thorough and complete." Though ground searches have ceased, the community is not giving up. Posters with Quinns picture have been hung all over Keene and neighboring towns to raise awareness of the search. A Web site, findjeremy.org, is also in place to help organize assistance for Quinns family. Quinn is described as a white male, 5'5", 150 lbs, with blue eyes and a shaved head. A native of Keene, Quinn is a husband and a father of two young girls. At the time of this reporting, there are still no leads in the case. Friends and family of Jeremy Quinn are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts. Anyone with information that may help locate him is asked to contact the State Police at 897-2000.
