Students earn CPR/AED credits

MIDDLEBURY Business and Services Academy students earned CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) certification through the American Heart Association, while attending the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center. The students are members of the centers Health Careers and Human Services programs. As future professionals in healthcare and human development industries, they are learning the importance of emergency care. Under the instruction of Barb Wagner, an emergency room nurse at Porter Medical Center for 34 years and certified American Heart Association instructor, students learned from Barbs first-hand knowledge, interactive video and hands-on practice. Barbs wealth of experience brings traumatic scenarios to the classroom. Students became engaged in her graphic descriptions and used industry approved trainers for practical experience for treating adults, children, and infants. The training course culminated with the issue of certification cards. For more information on these career programs or others at the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center call 802-382-1012 or check out the website at www.hannafordcareercenter.org.
