Rutland man crashes into building

WESTON Vermont State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 100 in Weston Sept. 3. Driver Richard Fredette, age 22, of Rutland was traveling south on Route 100 when his vehicle left the road. After leaving the road, Fredettes vehicle struck a fence then an embankment before continuing and striking a utility pole support cable. The van then continued onto the property of the Weston Rod and Gun Club, where it struck a small tree and then struck the side of the building. The van struck a second exterior wall after entering the building and partially exited the building. Fredette was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center by Londonderry Rescue with minor injuries. The van suffered significant front end damage and the building sustained significant structural damage to two walls. The building was not occupied at the time and nobody else was injured. The Weston Fire Department also responded to the scene. The cause of this crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact State Police.
