Washing their way to the Empire City

ROUSES POINT Local Girl Scouts are looking to become city-bound. The Champlain-Rouses Point Service Unit held a car wash and bake sale last Saturday to raise funds to enable the group to take a trip to New York City later this year. The voyage to the Big Apple is scheduled for mid-December. There are 14 girls in the unit, with the groups ages ranging from 7 to 15 years old. All the girls are very excited about it, said supervisor Kim McGoldrick. They are going to see a Broadway show, Mary Poppins. And, they are all excited to go to the American Girl Doll Store. The car wash is one of the girls biggest fundraisers of the year. The service unit will also host a spaghetti dinner at American Legion Post 912, 29 Pratt St., Friday, Sept. 26. The benefit, which will be held from 4-7 p.m, will also look to assist with the cost of the New York City trip. For more information or to make a donation to the service unit, contact McGoldrick at 298-3422. Andrew Matott is a student correspondent from Northeastern Clinton Central School.
