Summer Youth Program concludes

JOHNSBURG One hundred and seven children along with six teen counselors participated in the Town of Johnsburgs summer recreation program. The staff gave out several awards on the final days of their summer program. Lewkus Lorensen, Taylor Dwyer, Michael Wilson and T.J. Millington earned certificates of completion and prizes from the tennis program sponsored by the Town of Johnsburg, the Warren County Youth Bureau and the United States Tennis Association. Fifty other children also attended. Dezore Cleveland and Lindsey Russell were the outstanding Arts & Crafts award winners. Roger Stephens, Nate & Chet Prouty, Ethan Cooper & Lydia Knickerbocker took part in kayak instruction offered by Geoff Merrett, of Adirondack Adventures. With Lydia and Ethan advancing to explore the Hudson River. Swimmers advanced to the next level: Billy Cameron, Jonathan Lorensen, Sheridan Millington and Anthonie West all learned to swim this year and are eagerly waiting to begin level two next summer. Ayden Amell advanced to level three and is beginning to explore water while swimming over his head. Megan Bacon, Victoria Bradway, Khaleah Cleveland, Taylor Dwyer and Ashley Olden are all comfortable swimming in deep water and have completed the stroke readiness portion of swim lessons. Shelby Allen has learned four swim strokes and will work next year on mechanics & efficiency. Dezore' Cleveland and Emma Lee Ellsworth now swim four strokes (the elementary back stroke, the back crawl, the breast stroke and the front crawl) with ease. Lydia Knickerbocker has completed all swim lesson levels and is ready for her junior instructors or lifeguard training course. Look out Michael Phelps! Last but certainly not least: The staff voted Sheridan Millington, Aidan Connelly, Dezore' Cleveland, Astasia Myler and Meghan Sponable as "The Outstanding Campers " of the summer. Outstanding campers must play and play hard (no standing around, even if it is hot), and have near perfect sportsmanship and behavior. What a fun summer vacation, now have a great school year Johnsburg kids!
