Battle of Plattsburgh parade Sept. 13

PLATTSBURGH The theme of this years Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration parade will be Women in U.S. History. Grand marshals for the Sept. 13 parade are WWII veterans Marie Beemer, former member of the WAVES, and Dorothy Lacombe, an Army nurse in the European theater. They are honored this year for their service to our country more than 60 years ago. More than 60 units are expected to take part with a dozen new participants already registered. They will be joined by the U.S. Navy Band Northeast and Her Majestys Royal Marine band, the Peru High School Marching Band, the Police Pipes and Drums of Plattsburgh, the Spirit of Scotland pipes and drums, two Fife and Drum corps and a color guard from the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Drum.
