RUTLAND With fanfare befitting a visiting celebrity, Rutland Countys newest restaurant attracted a long line on its opening day. Rutland-area residents, usually impatient waiting in line, were happily waiting in line at both the drive-up and walk-in entrances of the new Taco Bell Restaurant; they were there to experience the operations unique south-of-the-border fast-food menu fare. The restaurant is located on Route 7 South across the highway from the Diamond Run Mall. It replaces an earlier, albeit unsuccessful, Taco Bell outlet on Woodstock Avenue. At the new restaurants ribbon-cutting were Tom Donahue, Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce, Frank Cottone, State Rep. Jim McNeil, Stanley Rhodes, chairman of the Rutland Town Select Board, Greg Knapp, store manager, and Joan Hill of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce. The California-based company was founded in 1962 and has been voted among the top restaurant employers nationwide.
