SARANAC LAKE Sue Starr, who works in Plant Operations for Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, was named an ABCD recipient for the month of September. The ABCD Award is presented to AMC employees who provide exemplary services or care that is outside of their job requirements and reflects positively on them, their field of practice, community and AMC. In a certificate of appreciation, it was pointed out Sue Starr is readily available to jump in and help others at the drop of a hat. On a recent weekend, she was on second call. The Primary Care Coordinator was in need of immediate assistance from Plant Operations. Sue responded to the call, and she came in with her children due to no sitter or daycare being available on the weekend. She then proceeded to fix two leaks and the lobby doors. At 8 p.m. that night, Sue called the PCC to let her know she was available and to make sure all was well. This was not the first time Sue has jumped in at a critical time. Last winter, there was a significant snowstorm overnight and patients and hospital staff would be arriving soon. Sue came in and plowed and salted the parking area, walkways, and door entrances before patients and staff arrived. Sue is an asset to the AMC family, constantly has a smile on her face, and cares deeply about her job and the well-being of the hospital. We thank her for going above and beyond. In addition to a certificate of appreciation, Sue was given a $50 gift certificate. Adirondack Medical Center will announce ABCD winners on a monthly basis.
