South Pacific auditions on tap

INDIAN LAKE Cabin Fever Players are happy to announce that they will be holding open auditions for the musical South Pacific Nov. 2, at the Indian Lake Theater on Main Street. The auditions will be at 2 p.m. that Sunday afternoon. Cabin Fever Players are an amateur theater company that has presented seven musicals in the past 11 years. This group consists of community members that sing, dance and just have lots of fun. The musical South Pacific is based on the book Tales from the South Pacific by James Michener and is adapted for the stage by Rogers and Hammerstein. The setting is an island in the South Pacific during the turning point of the South Pacific Theater of World War II. But this island in caught in a middle ground not quite in the war, not quite out of the war. It is the story of a young nurse that falls in love with a French plantation owner with two inter-racial children and also about a Marine lieutenant that falls in love with a Polynesian girl during a very turbulent time. Some of the songs that will be recognized are Some Enchanted Evening, Bali HaI and Im Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair. There are three women main characters and nine men main characters plus many extras for sailors, sea bees, Marines and nurses. We will also be looking for behind the scene people. The rehearsals will mainly take place Sunday afternoons starting in January 2009. Performance dates will be March 27, 28, 29, 2009. For more information call Vonnie at 648-6180 or Mary at 352-7093.
