Sign-ups under way for fourth annual Adirondack Unitarian Talent Show!

SARANAC LAKE Time to dust off that unicycle and mark your calendar for the fourth annual Saranac Lake Talent Show Saturday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in the Harrietstown Hall. The Adirondack Unitarian Universalist Community is the sponsor of the show. This year, in lieu of having a Harvest Dinner and placing various names in a hat, AUUC chose a partner for the show among the names of groups who had attended past dinners. They will be partnering with the Adirondack Carousel who will benefit from 60 percent of the proceeds. AUUC will organize, direct, screen the talent, work lights, stage, create the program booklet, and create promotional materials, emcee the evening and run the concession at intermission. The Adirondack Carousel will help in the following ways: promote the event, sell advertising space in the program, sell tickets before and the night of the show, and assist in other ways when needed. The very first Talent Show raised close to $4,500 for the Siena Project, which helped send 25 High School choristers to Siena Italy. In subsequent years, Pendragon Theatre's Arts in Education Program and the Tri-Lakes Humane Society were the recipient of the shared proceeds that averaged $2,250. There will be an esteemed panel of judges again this year that will do the final judging on the acts. This years show will have five categories: Ages 5-12, 13-18, 19-55, 56-100 and an Ensemble category for groups of performers. There will be first and second prizes awarded for each category and again this year the audience favorite will perform at the Winter Carnival Rotary Show. There will be a total of 25 acts in this years show. Performance time is limited to three minutes. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, so if you are interested, get your applications in as soon as possible. Applications can be picked up and returned to the Chamber Office at the Harrietstown Hall. There is a non-refundable $5 application fee. If you have any questions or if you would like an application by email, please call 891-0182 or email info@adkuu.org
