Copperfield Inn changes hands, will reopen in 2009

NORTH CREEK Joel Beaudin of North River and Michael Ellis of North Creek and New York City announced recently that they have signed a contract with Eliot Monter to purchase the Copperfield Inn. Located on the corner of Main Street and Ski Bowl Road in North Creek, this AAA Four Star Award- winning resort has been closed since October of 2007. The property is expected to change hands by year end. We are extremely excited about the reopening of this major downtown North Creek business, said Beaudin. Our plans call for some minor upgrades to the facilities as well as expanding the very popular Trappers Tavern, while the former Gardens Restaurant will also undergo a make-over. We anticipate reopening the hotel and Trappers Tavern by early February, said Ellis. The reopening of the Copperfield and the return of guests will provide a much needed lift to other Main Street businesses and the local economy. The property will be owned and operated by the newly formed entity Copperfield Inn Resorts LLC. This company is wholly owned by a group of private investors including many local and seasonal residents and others with strong local ties. Beaudin, who spent 30 years working in the skiing industry after starting his career at Gore Mountain, will oversee the start up and renovations to the property until a management team is put in place. Recruitment for the management team along with support staff to fill another 20 full time positions will start immediately, Beaudin said. Prospective employees may email their resumes to careers@copperfield-inn.com, or by mail at: PO Box 1, North Creek, New York 12853.
